Minutes of the 9th APVU meeting held at Gokarna Forest Resort Conference Room on 8 September 2017.

The 9th APVU meeting was held on 8 September 2018 at Gokarna Forest Resort Conference Room Nepal.

 

Members from the following countries were present:

Thailand, China, Hong Kong, India, Malaysia, Singapore, Nepal, Indonesia, Australia

 

Absent countries were:

Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, Myanmar, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Korea, Sri Lanka, Japan, New Zealand.

The meeting was called to order at 10pm by the President of APVU Dr. P.Vythilingam (2015-2016) of Malaysia.

The past President Dr. Susianto Tseng was also present.

The President briefed on the Congress and thanked to all the support from NVA for organising the APVU Vegfest in Nepal even though it is postponed.

All the members present introduced themselves.

President of NVA report to the congress the reason why the APVC Nepal was postpone due to the flood throughout Nepal.

The President briefed the members of the role of APVU and encouraged the members to bring in other countries for the future Congresses.

The President briefed the members that APVU is supporting the Vegfest Nepal shall assist with the organisaing supervision. The organising committee shall continue to work hard to make it happen during March.

The President briefed the members about the Asia Pacific Vegan Certification scheme and Kickstart will be held in Bangkok during 2018 June.

As the current President’s term comes to an end of September 2017, he opened the floor for nomination of the New President for the 2017-2018 term.

Ms. Tracy Wong, President of MVS proposed Dr. Henry Chow and was seconded by Representative of Nepal.

There being no other nomination, Dr. Henry Chow was declared the new President of the APVU for the year 2017-2018.

Mr. Asok was elected as Vice-president of the APVU for the year 2017-2018.

Ms. Shara Ng was elected as the Secretary general of the APVU 2017-2018.

It is agreed that the postponed APVC in Nepal will be held on March 11-12 as fixed.

Nomination to hold the next APVC was opened to the members.  Hong Kong was elected to hold the 9th APVU in Hong Kong in 2019.

There being no other business, the meeting ended at 11:30pm.  Group photos of the old and new committee of the APVU was taken. Photos will be posted in the website and facebook page,

Updated information will be upload to the FB page and APVU website.

Shara from Hong Kong will do research on the possibility to have vegan cruise in Asia during the APVU held in Hong Kong during 2019.
